One whole year- one whole year since the uprising began in Syria.  It's quite scary how time has flown; it only feels like yesterday when I heard the news that protests had started in the suburbs of Damascus with a quick dismissal that it wouldn't last long since Assad is a young Arab leader, stern with Israel (pfft really!?) and popular amongst young Syrians.  I remember quite clearly reading an article where all the above were mentioned and thinking to myself that it would be over as soon as it had begun: how wrong was I sadly.  The state of events that have happened over the course of the year have shocked us all to the core; who knew the regime was capable to this degree of the types of tools used to quash the opposition.  From as low as rapping women and girls, to killing children ('cause they pose a major threat, right?) to torturing and humiliating Syria's brave men, this regime has no bounds whatsoever and this makes them chilling yet.  Over 10 000 killed and hundreds and thousands fleeing the country, I can only pray that the day that Bashar Al Oppressor is removed from power and his entire government with him, will come very soon and that the Syrian people will taste the freedom they have so tirelessly and courageously fought for.  Free Syria!
